Nail Fungus Removal
Do you have a fungal nail and are embarrassed to wear open-toed shoes, sandals and flip-flops due to your unsightly toenails? We can help. Patrice’s Art of Beauty is happy to announce t a brand new treatment to eliminate fungal nail infections. It is a non-invasive, pain-free procedure that often results in new nail growth in as little as six months.
What is toe nail fungus?
Toenail fungus is a fungal infection of the nail that affects up to 10% of the world’s population. It often starts as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your toenail and, as the fungal infection goes deeper, it causes your toenail to discolour, thicken and crumble at the edge. It can cause separation of the toenail from the nail bed. It affects toenails more often than fingernails because of their slower growth, reduced blood supply and the frequent confinement of your feet in dark, moist environments (your shoes). Fungal nail infections can develop in people at any age, but it’s more common in older adults. As the nail ages, it can become brittle and dry. The resulting cracks in the nails allow fungi to enter.
How does it work?
We are the 1st in Ireland to have and use the Q10 Premium Nd:YAG Laser machine which penetrates through the nail and soft tissue to both kill fungus in its path, and promotes new nail growth. Once the living fungus is zapped by the laser, healthy nails begin to grow from the cuticle of the nail. This utilizes infrared radiation which is not painful and it is safe to gently heat the base of the nail.
What type of nails can be treated?
- Thickened or distorted nails
- Whitish to yellow-brown discoloration
- Brittle, crumbly or ragged
- Distorted in shape
- Lifting of part or all of the nail
- A dark color, caused by debris building up under your nail
FAQ
How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments you will need depends on the severity of your fungal infection. The treatment is typically 5-15 minutes per session, spaced 14 days apart for 3 months. As the nail grows slowly, it can take approximately 6-12 months for the new nail to replace the old infected nail. Each treatment is quick and pain free. You do not need to take any medication or apply any topical ointments before or after this laser treatment. However, you have to maintain very strict feet hygiene to prevent re-infection.
What's the recovery time?
There is no recovery time needed – patients can return to their daily activities immediately after each treatment.
